Crazy Quilt Update

So I have managed to do a little a little stitching in between the hecticness that is my life. This was done before I started the mask. Hopefully I will be able to finish this block now that the mask is complete. However I now have to make some gaucho pants for my roomate to go with a costume. I don't think that will take me too long. Also I have another small project in the back of my mind I'd like to start. I participated in the Needle and Thread: Stitching for Literacy New Blogger Puzzle Contest. I loved the saying the puzzle was.

I want to cross stitch this on a pillow with a fancy border. This would be a perfect little gift for my memre. Any way on to the block.

I used three brand new stitches I had never tried before. Rope stitch for the stem. Woven trellis stitch for the petals. Raised close herringbone stitch for the leaves. I love all these stitches.

1st Crazy Quilt

Wow two posts in one day! Go me! I actually wanted to introduce you to my 1st crazy quilt. Ever. I know, epic. I've been dabbling in crazy quilting for years, however a few years back I lost my entire stash in a move. Mind you I had been building my stash since freshman year of highschool. So about six years gone. Sad I know. However I am not the kind of person who likes to dwell in misery. I delight in a fresh start and building something new. So here I am once again starting my 1st Crazy Quilt.

This first block I'm going to show you, I have been working on for about 6 months. I know that's a long time but my life has been so busy since giving birth to my son about 1 year ago. This block is kind of like a sampler in that just about every new stitch I discover that I really like I end up trying on this block. I have one more block I started before my son was born. I got about half way through it and stopped. I didn't like it so much I stuffed it in a box and haven't even looked at it since. However I am contemplating taking a fresh look at it now since it has been so long.
